Join Tea Lab

If you’re interested in joining the TEA Lab as a graduate student, please apply to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech and mention our lab in your application. While we’re based in Mechanical Engineering, we also work with students from other departments like Computer Science.

We can’t give feedback on individual applications, but if you have questions about our research, feel free to reach out to Prof. Stepputtis. In your email, please include “TEA Lab Inquiry” in your subject, a few lines about why you’re interested in our work, any specific projects and/or papers that caught your eye, and your CV and transcripts (undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate).

Current Virginia Tech Students

We welcome Virginia Tech students (undergrad, master’s, or PhD) interested in getting research experience. To get started, email Prof. Stepputtis with “TEA Lab Inquiry” in your subject, a few lines about why you want to work with us and what excites you about our research, your CV and transcript(s), a few sentences about your goals (grad school, industry, learning robotics/ML, etc.), and a few brief bullet points about relevant experience (courses, projects, prior publications, etc.. Note that passion counts too!)

Taking one of Prof. Stepputtis’s classes is a great way to get involved too.

Visitors and Interns

We don’t offer remote internships or visitor positions.
